OK to powder coat rotors?

Hi,
I have some new rotors, cryo treated nonetheless, and I was thinking of powder coating them to avoid corrosion. Will this create any balance issues? (wouldn't rust/scale create balance issues btw?) Obviously I wouldn't powdercoat the friction part, just the front/back around the hub.

Thanks in advance,

Brett

hmmmmmm I have never had rusty discs create balance issues.....
what is the heat resistance of powdercoat. those rotors are going to get plenty hot. It would really suck to put all that effort into it just to see your coating fade and peel off.

I would go with the paint that they sell for calipers and put that on there instead. it's cheaper and will hold up to the extreme temps, especially if you do any racing and have to do some hard braking.

Powdercoat is mostly ceramic based, which is an insulator.

Insulating your rotors is a bad idea. You want heat to escape, not remain trapped inside.

Same idea goes for calipers. Paint over powerdercoat for those as well.

Just use high temp engine paint. It's what i use and it holds up fine.
