I figure since I am down here I may as well mod the drive train. I am looking to buy an aluminum drive shaft and trick out my AOD with a lentech MVB, a stall converter and shift kit. I was wondering if I could get some opinions from folks on which brands I should go with for the shift kit and stall. Also if I should totally rebuild the tranny as well. Mainly looking for advice not so much a this vs that thread.

www.edgeracingconverters.com is an excellent choice for a stall. You can go with the cheaper but effective stock size lockup converter or go with the 9.5" stall custom configured for your setup.
Are you sure you want the Lentech MVB? You may be better off with the semi auto Street Terminator. Has the best of both worlds. Auto if you want to just cruise and full manual if you want to play.
A great idea is an auxillary trans cooler. Even in stock form these things get hot and any additional cooling will keep your aod alive longer. And an upgraded input shaft is a great idea. Better A+ servo and larger OD band.
That should take just about anything you can throw at it.

You'd be better off spending your money on control arms than on an aluminum drive shaft...

Get the driveshaft. You will thank yourself later on down the road.

before you put a converter in it get a trans cooler. Also upgrade the overdrive servo to an A or A+. It is one of the weak links on the AOD. How do I know, I have a 3 speed AOD cause the OD band is shot on mine.

I believe that if you get the valve body you really won't have a need for a shift kit. But I could be wrong. I have a transgo in mine and it is decent. Some people have a problem with installing the hi rev part of the kit and it wants to shift the car into OD even when left in drive. I didn't install the hi rev kit and don't have that problem.

Suggestion: Go with Lentechs street terminator valve body. Then you will not need a shift kit. I second the motion for a trans cooler, when I did mine I installed a trans temp gauge at the same time. I would also suggest thinking about some type of ratcheting shifter. I use a modded b&M Hammer. If you do call Lentech, tell them whats in your car and what your goals are and they'll set you up with a stall that fits what you are looking for.

i bought the pa valve body for my convert havent installed it yet but know a trans shop owner that i trust fairly well and he says it feels stock untill u get on it and u can manually shift 1-2-3 under full throttle hope hes right just though u might want another option

HHmmmm.....so the valve body and s/k are 2 differnt deals and dont require one another....glad I asked you guys. So that being the case. WHat make the valve bidy option better than the shift kit?

the valvebody will eliminate the stupid FORD 1-D-OD pattern and make it the preferred 1-2-3. This helps in a bunch of ways. You don't have to do the 1-d-1 shuffle to use all of 2nd gear. You can get an aftermarket ratchet type shifter because OD is engaged with an electric switch. No worrying about the trans shifting into OD at WOT. The valvebody is a great idea.

Like I said, by getting the Lentech valve body you will have true 1-2-3 shifting and also have the electronic lock-out for OD. It is by far the best way to go when upgrading an AOD.
