Can't talk about old men in Cadillacs anymore. The new CTS-V in my Motor Trend mag is gonna have all the toys plus a 550HP 6.2L Supercharged engine.

15" front brakes.

14.7" rear brakes.

Those old men will be stomping some of us soon... :nonono:

hehe...In reality, some of us will never run into them, but those who do will have their hands full.

Agreed, these things are killer! My buddy was at the track and saw the current CTS-V doing some hot laps, he said it was a phenomal, can't wait to see what this thing does!

Hot-lapping it....that brings back memories...September 30th 2004, I believe it was a Thursday because I missed bowling. 45 of us rented Milan Dragway. It was me and 44 Corvettes...(friends Vette Club) This one guy had a leased Corvette going back in October. At the end of the night he had 35 slips in his hand and was going for more when I left for home. :rlaugh:

I actually might purchase a CTS-V. There was a local 2004 the guy was asking below book on, and I was very tempted to go look at it. The Insurance, gas and other things are holding me off for now, but low 13s, navigation, 4 doors and the like are making me want one more and more.

If I find the right local Infrared/Black CTS-V. I will buy it, no worries on price.

Only thing I've noticed about Cadillacs is that old folks own them for the first 10 to 15 years, and then after that, the resale value on them absolutely crashes and the only people driving them are ghetto folk and white trash. As it is, I'm already seeing Caddy STS's with a Northstar in them going for $1,000 on Craigslist when they hit 100k or 150k and the old-fart owner dies off, then the family ditches the car for dirt-cheap because the car has a laundry list of issues that never got taken care of while the old folks had it.

Only problem is, a lot of these old folks never change the oil or tranny fluid in them, or drive them far/frequently enough, so there's so much sludge and crap in there, dried up seals, and other accumulated problems that it'll easily take another $1,000 or more to get it back up into decent condition. Sooooo, when a Caddy like an STS or SLS with a Northstar up and pukes, nobody in their right mind wants to dish out $3,000 for a new Northstar (or however much they're going for these days) on a car that Blue Books for less than $2,000.

I can only imagine how that's all going to work out when the days come that a 400- or 500-horse Caddy motor pukes and nobody can (or wants to) afford to pay out the wazoo for a rebuild job or a swapped-in motor that's worth more than the car, itself. And considering that every wrecked CTS-V that hits a salvage company is guaranteed to have its motor/tranny yanked out ASAP for a swap into something else, it'll be hell to find a replacement motor, anyhow...

Just something to consider for the long-term. :)

If i didn't have to worry about commuting in the snow, i'd buy a CTS-V. I love em.

Unfortunately i'd just feel more comfortable with an AWD car. If only caddy would go AWD soon
