It looks like either a Mclaren, or a Tomaso Swift. Im leaning more towards Tomaso Swift though.

I've looked at some pics of various aftermarket convertable mustangs, the tomaso swift looks the same as yours but top looks like an ASC top. That mustang is not a mclaren, the only thing on it that looks Mclaren is the top and auto tonneau cover. So the company that did this conversion was ASC (american sunroof company) they are also the ones who did mclarens if you had trouble putting 2 and 2 together.

Ford contracted their "verts" to I think Cars and Concepts, someone else can probably confirm that if thats the company. Ford didn't contract any fox mustangs out from 79-82. So if its an 81 it did not start out as a vert that he made a 2 seater. It started out as a notch that ASC made a 2 seater vert.

A little off the subject here, but hey Stephen, I was sort of checking out your profile to see if that was your car in your signature, and I just gotta say REALLY nice job, I checked out the pics on the condition of it when you got originally... That car has always been on my top 5 favorites, nice ride man!!!
