omg plz help i hope its not a rod

the car is a 2000 mustang gt 50700 miles on it
i work 5mins from my house only drive the car work to home and back mon-fri
sat i go crusing so the car is not run hard or redlines or such

i was coming from my mothers house getting on the express lane as i merged from the on ramp i noticed a flux in power as i accelerated onto the express way

then i started to heard a light knocking noise from the motor i pull over open the hood push on the tb and i can hear a knocking noise comming from the passenger side of the motor i am like ***** wtf???

the car starts up fine it even drives fine other then that noise sounds like the noise is comming from the lower part of the motor but not sure because the heads sit low on this car
i stopped at the store and added some oil (like that would help ??!?) then i babyed it home and i am praying that my warrany on the car is still good i have had the car for 1yrs

last time i heard a noise like that i was in my probe but it came from me burning a valve in the head from using nos on the car

any help would be great guys thxs-------------------
------------ also if i need a new motor or rebuild on i need forged parts any info on that would be great also thxs

well, that sounds similar to what happened to me. mine was a wrist pin with 20k on the car/warranty expired.

before you panic, take it to a mechanic! hopefully you have someone you can trust. if it's i the bottom of the motor like you say, they'll have to pull it all apart to find out exactly what's wrong and then you're talkin a couple of grand in labor.

if you're lucky, it's a valve spring or something relatively easy to fix. check all that out first. if you have to rebuild or replace the bottom end, you're looking at 5k-7k easily.

if it were a rod, you would most likely see a massive amount of oil under your stang. if something on the bottom end of the engine really does need to be replaced, sounds like a great time to have a built motor installed. You can check out www.modualfordpowerhouse.com to get some good info on built motors and buy one from there as well (some damn good motors too). if I were you, and found out I needed to replace the motor, i would check out www.karkraft.com and look into a 4V motor.

That isnt true. You can throw a rod and spin a main bearing and not have a rod go through the oil pan or block. All that happens is the bearing isnt in the correct spot on the crank. I spun a bearing in my car and I can drive it.

karkraft has some good stuff. you can get a mach1 motor for 3k - but it's an auto with a 6 bolt crank. either way, if you put a 4-valve in, you'll need a whole bunch of other parts, headers, accessory brackets, computer, etc.

i talked to a couple of places about installation for the 4v and they told me that it would cost a bit because they weren't really sure how long it would take. i figured it was going to be easier to put in a forged shortblock so i could blow it later anyway.

forged shortblocks go for 3K. then u have to to the swap.
