okay so where the smog line hooks up to the exhaust...on my exhaust it has a little stub sticking out with a rubber hose that connects to the smog hard line...can i just disconnect that and leave it open until i take it to my mechanic next month and have him weld it shut...it wont be driven but 20 miles to the shop.

That's whatr I did. 3/4" heater hose, 2 hose clamps and a circuit panel fuse to seal it off!

How about an O/R H or X pipe? Really, if you are removing that you should remove the cats.
