One more door question

Can I carry a door for an SN95 Mustang in my SN95 mustang? I don't have the dimensions (obviously) but I figure if I roll down the window on the door that I'm carrying, it should fit in the back with my rear seat down, right?



And no, I don't have any larger vehicles available to me. Wife drives a Jetta, which really isn't much better for interior dimensions (though I could steal it if I need to).

Obviously, when I get home I can answer this myself by removing my own door and trying to fit it inside my car. But if someone else has already tried this, I won't have to try it myself. It seems reasonable to me, considering the length of objects that can fit into the back with the rear seat folded down. And I'll be alone in the car, so I could even put it in the entire passenger side of the car if that would work better.

So I measured the door (without taking it off) and it came out to about

11 inches deep (excluding the mirror)
33 inches tall (including the corner for the mirror)
54 inches long

I think it should fit, either through the trunk (with seats down of course) or in the passenger seat (with passenger seat all the way forward and reclined all the way back). It will be close, but I think its doable.

I also remembered that the rear seat cushions are easily removed, at which point the rear seat backs fold down and flat. So that will help as well if I go that way. I measured the rear seat -> trunk opening and it should accommodate 11x33, though not with a lot to spare.

I just returned from the junkyard.

The answer is yes, we can fit a full SN95 mustang door inside of our SN95 mustangs. I placed it in through the trunk, with the back seats folded down. It fit well in that configuration, with the front passenger seat up and fully usable.
