One more wiring question (Painless fuse box) and then I'm done*

Anyway, rather than replace my underdash in my '68 FB right now, I bought a Painless auxillary fuse box with 3 constant hot/4 ignition hot circuits. I will be running non-stock items from it, like radio and gauges.

Two questions:

1. Does anyone who has installed one of these (or who is just plain smart at wiring/electric stuff) have any advice that may not be covered in the instructions?

2. The instructions do call for a "trigger wire" to the unit that is from a switched ignition source. I'd like to keep all the wires under the hood until I need to run a hot feed into the cabin. Where is a good source under the hood, if there is one?

Just trying to provide clean power sources without hacking into my existing underdash harness. Just seems alot cleaner and simpler with this.

Any idea on that ignition switched lead under the hood?

Try the neutral switch connection, it has power from the key when on.
But if this is for interior stuff why have the fuse panel outside?

That's a good question...maybe if I can find a nice, convenient place under the dash I can put it inside. Problem is I have the Perfect Fit a/c system and the heater/exchange box is huge.
