I don't post all that much but I'm always lurking trying to learn.

Anyway, there was a poster on another forum that had a "fully built" 302 and a new 4 speed toploader with bellhousing, new clutch, pressure plate, etc. for sale. The engine has less than 100 miles on it and the transmission has less than 15 miles. He doesn't have any of the receipts (got them new with car, he's putting in a turbo), but it seems legit and when I went out there to look at the engine/trans they look to be in the condition he claims.

I have been going back and forth with him on price and was hoping that you could let me know your thoughts on the price we've settled on.

So... right now we are at $2700 for:

- "fully built" 302 w/ air cleaner/carb
- New 4 speed toploader with clutch, bellhousing, pressure plate, leakage plate
- 8" rear end with freshly turned drum brakes

Does this seem fair to you? I'm not expecting to get an amazing deal, but this definitely seems like a good deal at the least.

The way I figure it is that I would have to rebuild my 289 at some point anyway ($2500) and I was going to rebuild the C4 soon ($1000) so I could be saving some money going this route.

Thanks in advance

What part of the country are you in? Prices vary with location.

Also, when you say new toploader... do you mean newly rebuilt or one of those fancy brand news ones? (Is it alum or steel?)
