Opinions on 429 - Coworker is selling

It's a 1969 429 it's currently not assembled but has completely rebuilt.
The pistons and crank are stock. IIRC he said it wasn't a 4 bolt and was rebuilt about 10 years ago when .02 bearings where still available. There is some minor rust on the crank, so it would need cleaning but not resurfaced.
THe engine is complete minus I think the intake and carb. He said he has over $5000 into the heads. (Huge exhaust ports, painted to allow better oil flow, 5 angle valve job and something about changing the angle of the valves 28 degrees to allow for better compression) He also drilled a 1/16th hole into the oil chain area to allow for better lubrication on the chain. He also said he had 2 cams for it and the one he really likes is a custom ground "gorilla" cam...Theoratical horsepower is rated @ just over 700. He hasn't really had it listed anywhere, but another guy is offering him $1500 and wants to come look at it on Monday. If he doesn't buy it he said he would sell it to me for the same price..

Does this sound like a good deal?. I would still need a cooling system, wide ratio c6, and rear end to hold its power.

and what kind of mystical heads are these to cost $5000 and produce 700Hp?

lol, sorry, even though its possible its unlikely ... especially for the price of just $1500.

I need to know more specific specs with proff to believe it

Oh,first of all I havent heard of many 4 bolt factroy block,its either been converter to 4 bolt (unlikly,because of the .020 under,and cost) or a BOSS 429 (like 1 in a 1,000,000 chance....)

not $500. He's got about $5000 into the heads..
Said he's got about $6K total into the engine, but it's been sitting in his garage for about 8-9 years and he just wants to get ride of it.
The heads have been ported/polished with the exhaust valves being way oversized. Some kind of valve seating @ 28 degrees that allows for lower compression(with 5 angle valve job), this is also suppossed to allow for a thinner head gasket to lower compression even more. The heads are coated with a material that lets the oil flow better.
(It's not a 4 bolt - He wanted to make that clear with me)

28* is a terrable valve angle....(well for a performance head...most are around 21* and 15*)

Less is better for valve angles,oh and a thinner head gasket would raise compression.

And as far as I know,bout the only thing that would help oil follow in any decent mannor is zinc-chromate (sp?
)

That's what I meant raise compression.

They are stock heads (I think). He said that was theoratical HP. I'm not sure how he came up with the #, but said he used to have it in his Bronco. The 700 HP was with a custom "gorilla" cam, and the intake/carb he already sold.

I saved this page awhile back from a member on here;anyhow it has a flow bench test of all the BBF heads,with theroritical power figuers.It also has examples of ported heads.

really quick, are valve seals supposted to "snap" onto the valve guides to keep them from moving? Sorry to sort of hijack the thread.
