I would like some opinions on engine breathers systems. Is setting a PCV system worth it? Should I go with the standard breathers or set up a PCV system? My concerns are about engine life and cleanliness, in the bottom end and the intake.

It's really an early pollution control. I switched to a PCV to prevent oil film on the LH valve cover. The 'closed system', with a closed cap and hose to the air cleaner works best.

Hi,
I'll add, another benefit of a closed PCV system, is a reduction in crankcase pressures. This reduces any tendencies for oil seepage through, otherwise, weak oil pan and valve cover gaskets.
Just another thought.

i also would go with a pcv system, and keep it closed as much as possible.

PCV

What makes up a PCV system? I have heard the term but not familiar with what parts are needed to build one.
