opinions on h/c/i

This is kind of a mild combo i think but im not looking for anything crazy, good street manners with good low end torque.

GT-40 Upper and lower
GT-40 x303 heads
70mm TB (BBK?)
Mass Air ?
E-303 cam
Stock Bottom end
Rockers?
19lb injectors
BBK CAI (on the car when i got it)

Thats about it, any suggestions would be appreciated, i was looking at the Y303 heads but figured might as well go with the x303's. The stuff with a ? mark after it is still undecided so any recomendations would be helpful. Just a couple questions, will I need special headers for the heads? Will the intake and heads work with all the stock emmissions stuff (egr etc.)? Finally, any ideas on hp tq numbers. Thanks guys.

Instead of getting the gt40 intake, you could get by with an explorer intake or a cobra and save a ****load of money. A 65mm throttle body would probably be more than enough for the amount of flow you would have and keep some bottom end torque.

I agree also on the intake. I had a trick flow street heat EFI intake once and loved it though.

throttle body...65 or 70mm should work, just don't get a Professional Products I think its called. They come polished, nice and shiny and sell on ebay real cheap. They're junk IMO. Its hard to set the TPS voltage with them, they whistle really loud, and the spring is junk. the throttle gets stuck at WOT sometimes with them.

check out the stangnet reviews page and see how each throttle body (and other parts you're considering) test out. Good luck :flag:

I agree, the GT40 is overpriced, and has the same lower as the cobra and explorer. If you still want to swing for a high dallar intake, get an edelbrock or holley intake, they seem to be the overall best. Don't forget the cobra/explorer/gt40 lower can be ported and those intakes can really, really flow.

For the TB, if either the cobra/explorer/GT40 I would definatly go with a 65 because the opening is 65mm, but if edelbrock or holley I would go for a 70mm TB to match the intake. On a long runner intake, the velosity is made in the runners. The brand, either FMS or Accufab because those are the only one's that have near 100% satisfaction.

For the MAF I would at least get a 73mm C&L. it would be more than enough for the BBK CAI.

For the heads, what do the GT40X's run in price? If your spending much over 800 I would seriously consider going with TFS or better yet, AFR.

For rockers it will depend on what heads and cam you get. Pedistal or stud mount. 1.6 or 1.7. The cam I would steer away from an alphebet and go with a custom grind.

You might get away with 19's on that setup, but who know's. 19's are good for about 300rwhp, then lean issues start. I would first get a better fuel pump, the stock 88lph runs out before the injectors. 190lph or more, perferably 255lph.

I've only known 1 guy who had "X" heads and they kinda sucked. maybe they'll work good for you though. I'm using some old school heads and cam and my car hauls balls (carb'd though). Look at this, might help pick heads too-----> http://home.isoa.net/~mharrisj/fordhead.html

this one is really neat too http://www.allfordmustangs.com/Detailed/630.shtml

also, i have a buddy who has trick flow twisted wedge heads on his 302 it pulls like a raped ape omg. they flow realllll nice. If you keep your car n/a you can always get them milled and raise the CR for more power :flag:

For a budget setup:

73mm MAF, 65mm TB+EGR, TMOSS ported stock lower, Thumper Heads with valve spring upgrade, 1.7RR's, stock cam. You won't loose any low end torque or drivability but 3000+rpm it would make a night/day difference.
