Opinions on these heads (everyone look please)

I am planning on buying a set of Trick-Flow Highport Heads, the old iron ones. I have a chance to get a really good deal on them. What does everyone think about these heads, they are the 2.02, 1.60, intake-exhaust valves, and have .600 lift springs installed. I am not sure of the runner size i am still trying to figure out all of the spec's

Also what other supporting mods do you guys think i would have to have to make these heads perform. Are they too much for my stock shortblock, and e-cam. If i left the t-moss ported lower on for a couple weeks how do you think driveability would be.


I also have another option to buy a set of AFR 165's but they are gonna be about 200$ more.

shortblock will be fine, and yeah with what you got that should rip, only thing is your not losing the weight like w/ aluminum heads

I would save for the AFR's. The AFR's are aluminum which are a big difference, plus, I'm unsure about the high ports. I know the 2.02 TW valves work, but I don't know about those high ports. Just check for PTV clearance. The E cam would be an "OK" choice. There are far better, and there are far worse. If you leave the Tmoss lower on, it would probably give you decent numbers and a ton of torque till about 5000 or 5200, and that is where you would really notice a difference when you switched to an aftermarket unit.

well i can get he heads just out of the machine shop for 500$ and i don't want a really high HP car just something that is a lot of fun on the street.


as long as i could run some low 13's on radials then i would be ecstatic sp?


I would change to an Eddy in a month or two, i was just wanting to leave the T-moss for now. As ask before does anyone know the specs on the TF highports My friend ran these heads on his stock shortblock without problems before he decided to take them off He has purchased a set of the Pro-Topline heads and i will soon know what they are about

If i remember correctly the high ports are the set of heads that really put trick flow on the map. I know that are lots of articles in the 5.0 magazines about them and i don't remember hearing anything bad about them...

I don’t know much about the T.F.'s But the AFR's are extremely good heads. Plus they are aluminum, making them easy to port for future mods. I would go with the AFR's!!

If I read this correctly, you have the option of:

Iron high ports for $500

or,

aluminum AFR 165's for $700.

Unless there is something wrong with the AFR's, that is an awesome deal. The High ports are just a pretty good deal. Go for the AFR's.
