Optima battery swap

I'm going to be replacing my factory battery with an optima yellow (I think yellow? Red? Which is it?) and I'm reading how to do the swap. Everyone has said "Oh it's so easy! Takes 10 minutes!" but I came across this tutorial and ummm...it seems a little more intense than that...no?

Is that easier than it sounds? I don't even know what a "Hold Down" is! Please don't flame. I've never swapped a battery and you are probably going to laff at me...

A "hold down" is just the piece of plastic or metal that holds the battery from moving around.

Don't feel foolish for asking beginner's questions. Soon you'll be a know-it-all.

Deep Cycle batterys are for like golf carts and such that require constant electrical draw and are ment to be drawn all the way down and take repeated chargings. they are not meent to be started and stopped like a regular car type batterys, this will kill a "deep cycle" battery. I have the blue top Optima marine battery in mine(non deep cycle), it has extra + & - post for accessories and was 900 cca I think

I believe Optima and Remy Battery suggest the 34 for the Mustang.

I noticed the weight is 44lbs. What was the name of the car battery that is very small & light?

Also, if you order an Optima for the Stang, do you need to order some sort of post/terminal conversion kit?

They all have standard posts on top I believe, a few of them have the side posts as well. The 34 just has the traditional top posts.

i have thr red, it has top and side posts.....If you drive your car everyday then the Red is perfect. If you don't drive it everyday get the yellow.....both are good for cold NJ starts. You should just buy my car Ambo....you seem to be ordering everything I did...lol

Get the red top. I have one in my car and it works with no problem. And with the amount of abuse I've put it through without problems amazes me. Anyway, the one I bought came with a piece that it could snap into. This piece made it possible to use the stock hold down.

It came on the battery when I bought it. It wasn't special ordered or anything. If I remember correctly it was in the protective peice that is snapped over the top. You have to pop it out of that.
