Anyone know if an Optima battery needs to be vented like a regular ole' lead acid from Sears? I've had the thing sitting in my garage for over a year now awaiting relocation to the hatch area. I recently saw a cool looking billet aluminum tray and mount that would look great in the hatch area but it is not completely enlcosed like you see in most of the relocation kits.

Thanks

Even sealed batteries can outgas. It usually happens under abusive conditions. I have a had a few battery training classes. I have been told in those clases that they vent under heavy discharge conditions.

That experience comes from telecommunications. Some offices have "sealed gel cell batteries" that can go on their sides, etc. Currently we have several strings of 400 AMP-HOUR wet cells. But I have dealt with the sealed type at other offices.

This is for a street setup. I've had my car to the track one time for base times and that's it. The problem I have with the batt boxes is their size and they're damed ugly (unless it's billet then I'll end up trading in my first born).
