This is a Tech-related spinoff of my build progress thread in the 4.6L Talk forum. I am trying to decide on what I should do with the fuel system to support somewhere around 600 rwhp on a daily driver. I bought a Cobra tank with the sump & baffles, but other than that, no components have been purchased, so anything goes. Here are some of the questions I have:
1. Should I stick with the returnless factory-style setup, or convert to a return-style fuel system? Does the returnless setup respond quickly enough to fuel system pressure demand changes as caused by instant boost?
2. Can the factory fuel lines & fuel rails flow enough to make 600 rwhp reliably?
3. What size fuel injectors would be best for my power goals? Based on my calculations, I would need something in the 65 lb / hour range. Would injectors that size be easily-controlled by the factory PCM? Would they idle (reasonably) well?
All input is greatly appreciated.
