Hey!

I have this crazy idea of trading my '07 for an '11. I want the payment to be "about the same" so I've come up with two packages...ok, maybe 3. Let me know what you think!

First off, I'm not much into bling or gadgets. That said:

Grabber Blue

1. GT stripper. Black cloth. 3.73's. 6-speed manual. Done.
2. GT stripper. Black cloth. 3.73's. 6-speed manual. Brembos. Done.
3. GT Premium (400A). Black leather w/blue stripe. 3.73's. 6-speed manual. Done.

I don't think I can really afford #3 with the Brembo package.

Optional question:
Would my 2008 OEM GT500 wheels fit/work on the 2011 GT?

If I don't get the Brembo package, I would for sure put my GT500 wheels on this new car (as well as my Roush axle-backs).

The age/mileage of my car (3 yrs./52K miles), the lack of power (no mods) makes me think that if I can flip it now, I'd get 100 more HP (flywheel), better suspension, better spark plugs (LOL)...for a little more $ in payment.

Thanks!

base gt 3.73 gears 6 speed manual hood scoop side scoops and louvers :nice:

Well, the other idea for getting this "stripper" setup idea of mine, is to be a bit more "stealthy."

I would get no add-on body stuff, and maybe (MAYBE) even rip off the 5.0 badge. It appears that the V6 no longer has the tri-bar pony badge on it anymore...just smooth metal. Taking off the 5.0 badge would complete the sleeper look. Then I can proceed to crush everything on the road, sans Vipers and Z06s. :)

The premium stuff is not worth the large bill and the Brembos are $1695. I just dont care for leather either. :)

The Brembo kit is a steal, considering you get cooler wheels/tires with it. However, I don't have a beater car for the winter (yet, or...a job...LOL). I drive my 07 year round with snow shoes on it. The 17" wheel/tire package I have won't clear a big brake kit (aka, Brembo)...so that could be a problem. The Brembo kit REALLY is designed for people who go to track days with their car, as the traction/stability control is also reprogrammed. I don't see myself going to a road course anytime soon, so stock brakes (and killer pads!) would suffice for the street. AND....since the GT premium wheels look kinda ghetto, I can just throw on my new GT500 wheels and have super fat tires and look more bad assier. :)

If the cloth is SWEET...I would consider it. If it's like a 2005 V6 cloth...then its gonna be ghetto, and I would hate it. Leather (what little there really is in that car..the backs are vinyl as are the rear seats)...is much easier to clean and will prolly last longer.

Well, mine's a lowly 2010 but the things I like the most and that are the most appreciated in daily driving are the "premium stuff".

I love the striped leather seats, shaker 1K, premium interior, etc...most of my driving is sitting in traffic or stuck behind other cars, driving through speedtraps, etc. The Brembo kit doesn't do you much good in those situations. I think the HID lights are a "must" too...wouldn't be able to buy a car with regular headlights after owning the last three with HIDs.

But what do I know...I have a dislike for wings and scoops (would order the spoiler delete) and think the GT500 wheels look much more 'ghetto' than the 19" premium GT wheels...so take my opinion FWIW. ;)

#1: Good choice on exterior color.
#2: 3.73s are a must
#3: The rims the Brembos come with, look amazing against the Grabber Blue
#4: The leather in the 2010+s is much better than my leather ever was in my '06 and the subtle blue stripe in the seats breaks up all the black you'd have in the interior.

I'd say go for option #2 or #3 (+ Brembos if you can).

In all honesty, sounds like you're kinda in my predicament. Turn the car before the value decreases too much and get a bunch more HP! :nice:

Hey Sparty92, how do you like the Hurst Billet shifter? I was looking at getting one of those. As far as your question, I'm not sure about the cloth on the 11's, but on the 10's I thought it looked like it belonged in a mid 90's Probe. (not good) I'm not sure if they changed it for the 11's, plus looks like you'll modify it anyway, so just tint the windows and have a little style inside, but keep the sleeper look. I can say adding big red brembo brakes and those special wheels doesn't help make it a sleeper. If you want to be really sly remove the 5.0 badge and put a GT badge from the 10 on it!

The Brembo package is a dark gray color, with orange-ish red lettering. VERY subtle, also, only the fronts are Brembos. I agree with you on cloth. Most cloth is really sucky. I want cloth like you'd find on a Recaro seat or something. The Germans can do cloth pretty well, VW, etc.

If the 5.0 badge comes off, there will be no badge on the car. The V6 has no badges, so I'd leave it naked...make 'em think it's a V6!

The Hurst billet shifter is pretty cool. It is a fair bit notchier than stock, and your shift times will slow down. It's very direct and short. Sometimes I miss 2nd gear cuz my foot is coming off the clutch too fast in a "heated" moment on the street, resulting in BUUZZZZZZZZZZ against the synchros. Not cool. :nonono:

The quality is nice. Install is typical of any "normal" shifter in terms of parts. It looks great, too.

I hear good things about the '11 6-speed shifter, so I would prolly leave it stock (if I get one....LOL).

The 19" premium wheels that come with the Brembo kit are not ghetto. The STANDARD 18" wheel with the GT....IS ghetto. And skinny.

I'll take my GT500 wheels at 18 x 9.5 any day. :)

But for the most part, we are on the same page...LOL

I would not buy the car without the Brembo kit at all. It is a great deal if you ever think you will be doing an HPDE event, autoX, or any time attack. If all you want to do is hit the local drag strip, just get the premium sans Brembo pack.

Don't get me wrong, the Brembo option is a steal.

However...that brake kit won't fit under a 17" wheel. My current snow tire setup is on OEM Bullitt wheels. I can't afford a beater car for the winter yet, so I'd prolly have to drive the car at least 1 winter.

Also, any good brake pad would be sufficient for auto-x. I have never taken any of my cars to a track day, so I don't think I'll be taking the Mustang to one any time soon. OEM brakes would work fine for the occasional trip to the drag strip.

It really just depends what you want the car for.

If it's a daily driver, I'm more included to opt in for the Premium interior for a little more comfort. If you want it to be more of a car for racing and don't care about the feeling day to day then go for the 3.73's and Brembos since you dont want to spend the extra on all 3.

My personal experience is my 03 is my daily driver currently and I went all out on mods on it (cams, LT's, 4.10s) and don't get me wrong, it's fun as hell to drive but sometimes it does get a little annoying on a day to day basis.

That's why when I built my 11 GT I got all 3 (Premium, 3.73s, Brembo) so I get a bit of both worlds! So just decide what you want for the long run and go with that!

The 2011 Gt comes with great factory stuff; It has killer brakes from the start; the Brembos are a steal if you can afford them, but totally unnecessary. From 12 feet away the stock 18" wheels are identical to the 19" and many upgrades come with the GT regardless and no extra charge. The stock interior is far sperior to 3 years ago. Ford ha smade a world class car and it starts with the power train but that is only a start. The rest of the car, including interior, suspension, brakes, dash electronics and paint are all superior to past models. Get a good dealer to assist your decision making with test drives and an extensive exlanation on cost. Ride in several, Then decide.
