Look, it's simple. There are 2 different HP/TQ@RPMs listed for both motors. Ford simply wouldn't have that kind of discrepency in an official document. Add to that the vague allusions to this handling package, and you get one of 2 things being the case: 1) it's simply a hoax, and they duped everyone. 2) It's vague and contradicting on purpose to keep things, well...vague and confusing. In which case, it might as well be a hoax.

The ordering guides are real, they are NOT a hoax.

When the early draft got posted on the internet, Ford contacted several sites to request that they be removed.

The HP #'s may change right up until the '05 is released for production. I'm sure that the engineers will be tweaking the PCM code until a week or 2 before production.

As far as the errors go, Ford just released close to 40 ordering guides for all of the FLM 2005 models. You may be perfect, but I'm sure that in the rush to get all 40 ordering guides ready for May 24 there are errors in every one of the 40 different ordering guides.

The purpose of the guides are to help the dealers order inventory. An error in the HP/TQ #'s will have no effect on the dealer's ability to order vehicles, so correcting such errors is a low priority.

If they have released multiple new versions since the initial draft, why not correct a simple typo? Have you ever used adobe acrobat? Its pretty simple. I'm not perfect, but i also dont have an entire staff of professional tech writers to write my memos for me either.

Ordering Guide

My copy of the ordering guide updates the torque rating to 320 ft/lbs. In addition, there appears to be a typo on the Max Torque RPM @ 5400 RPM. The correct figure should be 4500 RPM.

Comments anyone?

Yes, there's a typo. "teh" is actually spelled "the".

Kids.

Why do you all get so worked up about all this? Remember a year or so ago when Ford's site pictured a vert with the caption "Feel the wind in your hair at 260 mph"? They corrected it after a few days, but it was pretty funny.

We'll know soon enough.

The latest copy of the ordering guide has the correct #'s on the last page (the one with page #8 at the bottom). It says 300 HP @ 5750 / 320 lb ft @ 4500. However on page 5 it has different and incorrect #'s.

Again, these ordering guides are intended FOR the dealers, to help the dealers to place orders for the cars. They are NOT official specifications guides for the customers. Whether the HP & TQ #'s are correct or incorrect on the ordering guide as NO bearing on the dealer's ability to order a car.
