Is there an option, besides using the TC VAM or SVO setup?
For example: 5.0s with superchargers use a FMU for fuel, a BTM for timing retard and a Mass air calibrated to injector size.
So hence the questions

Will using a stock 89 N/A computer with the above-mentioned items (FMU, BTM and Mass air) suffice a turbo installation?

C&L mass air meters offer a large selection of sample tubes for adjusting to injector size, I’m wondering if a stock 19LBS injector tube for a stock 5.0 would work on a 2.3…. It did on my 92 Super Coupe…C&L or most meters are not based on injector size (injector specific) but are specific to the computers set stock parameters …..93 Cobra runs a 24lbs injector, Super Coupe 30lbs and 90LX 19lbs……all use the same Mass air calibration= 73mm mass air set up for a 90lx 19lbs injector will work in all three vehicles mentioned, so does this stuff carry over to a 2.3????

How is timing controlled in a TC? Is there any retard per lbs of boost?
When using a BTM you could run a ton more lead/ advance (low end torque…less lag) and then pull it out up top. Is this applicable to a 2.3 turbo set up?

Sorry for the questions, just been a 5.0 guy for a long time (just don’t have the cash for blown 5.0s anymore ) but still have some goodies lying around.

Sure, you can do it that way if you want...it's not "right", not as safe, and probably more expensive but it should "work" once you get all the bugs worked out.

Stinger, just looking for options. Finding decent 2.3 turbo parts are getting slim or expensive in my area.
How about my timing question....how does a TC control timing?

The TC controls timing via the air flow and throttle position sensors. Retards timing (and then adds some back in) with boost.

I would think it pulls timing out under boost???
Could you run a MSD BTM with a TC ECU and get any benefits from it?
I got a large VAM today....but concerned the plastic top that covers the solid state (spring and connectors) feel off....soemone had taped it together.

Will a 87-88 TC VAM work with a 86 ECU?...couldn't find a LA3

Got a FMIC today...740 Volvo 30.00

well at least now it'll be easier to adjust the vam spring tension

I've been wondering for a while if the n/a 2.3 ecu's are supported by eec tuner or tweecer?

I think it would be pretty interesting to toss a set of turbo slugs onto the rods of a dis engine and just chip it with a larger maf and injectors and see what happens. well, after massaging the combustion chamber in the head that is.

but this is just another goofy idea I've had.

Well, that's what I meant. It pulls timing at boost onset (from like 40º down to about 15º) and then adds timing back up to 25-28º by 6500rpm.

There is no use in using a BTM with a TC ecu...it would be like hooking up two BTM's together...what's the point?

You need to match the vam size and injector size with the ecu you have...86 TC ecu uses small vam and big injectors.
