Well really I got new door handels first because the stock plastic ones snapped, but really it did nothing for the car in terms of driveability. It does make it eaiser though, now I don't have to go to the pass. side to get the drivers door open:nice: .

But anyway I have a blown rear shock so I ordered 2 new ones to fix the crappy ride and fix the noise.....Can't waite to fix that:p

The car is bone stock except for my cowel hood. The motor with the belt driven fan makes more noise than the exhaust note.....so I ordered the mac-catback for about $300 shipped to my door. It still has the stock catted h and dinky headers but for now it just needs to be a little louder.

Next will be long-tubes and a cat-less h-pipe. But in the last week of this month im taking a road trip to my gf's college at SIUC. Thats why I want to fix the shock and I don't want to go deff, thats the only reason I'm holding off on the other parts.

I hope I don't have any fitment issuies on the cat-back because I did research and some people had fitment problems. Who here has has a problem bolthing the cb to the factory h?:SNSign:

Longtubes on a stock motor = Slooooooooooooooooow

Get some Shorty headers instead for right now. If it were me I would get the Offroad H-pipe to go with your catback and some 3:73 Gears to wake it up:nice:

my clutch fan (stock) gets noisy when it gets stuck. its supposed to freewheel kinda. when i drive it normally and pop the hood and spin it, it spins, when it gets loud like taht and sounds like a truck, i pop the hood and its stuck. so i spin it free, start my engine back up and its normal. it would be something to try. ive worked some 3 in 1 oil in there too. try spinning it and lubing it, i think that will help. parts your getting sound like fun. good luck.

longtubes are proven to see better gains.. and unless he doesnt plan on going very far with that motor, i figure he'll need em.. im runnin long tubes, catless H, and flows w/ dumps on the 85.. stock motor to with gears and a shifter

I don't want cats and besids the mac catless h-pipe is $149 brand new.... thanks anyway though.

How much of a pita is it to install longtubes? It can't be that bad is it? I have heard of loosing a little lowend tq. with long tubes but I don't have a problem with that because this car needs all the help it can get up top imho.

I do plan on h/c/i later on down the road but I have a No2 kit sitting next to me waiting to go to work....would long tubes work better with a small shot?

Time I have lol... I know about the short h-pipe but thanks for the help. I just don't see how they could make the car slower like the one guy said...

for those of you that have put them in did u go from under the car or did you guys slide them in from the top?

Also what is needed to remove the rear virticle shocks? I'm sure I can do this myself but are there any tips for doing a shock R&R?

I put long tubes on and love it. They are a pain to put in but not bad if you take your time and go at it right. Makes getting to the starter a breeze on my car, and gave me a ton of improvement over shorties and a catted H. Personally if you dont mind putting them in Id say go with them, cant go wrong!

there is nothing wrong with the fan it really does not make noise. i was just saying when u rip the motor through the gears you can hear the motor louder than the exhaust. I just thought that because the fan was belt driven the higher the RPMs the faster it spins and that the higher the rpms the exhaust gets faded out by the motor because it's so quiet...thank you though for the tip:SNSign:

I think he means for the ********ng loss, which is his opinion. I went 13.8 @ 99 with Mac shorties and a Mac catted H. I bought some $100 used Mac LTs, and a Mac Prochamber ($230 new), added some pulleys and went back to the track (had not been or really even driven the car in that time). The track conditions were very similar, same track, same tires etc... Car went 13.2 @ 101. The actual seat of the pants feel was actually impressive. Before doing this the car felt quick would spin first and spin some into second, after the LTs the car would tear second up even from any kind of roll and would actually spin into third more than ever before, not to mention the shift light came on faster.

I also have never burned anything up. Never a clutch cable, never a starter, never plug wires, and the LTs hold the header bolts a LOT better than the shorties ever did!

Granted take my experience as one in a million, same with all of them. The most we can do is tell yuo what we prefer and share what we have seen with or without the parts. I got lucky and the car woke right up with the LTs, and since then has been running decent numbers, but some just have headache after headache and dont prefer them!

Lots of great info, thank you:nice:

I still think I'm going to go with the long tubes because even though some might think its a pain, I like to work on the car, and don't really care how long it takes to do it right...I want as much power as I can get pretty much. When buying headers do they usually come with the gaskets and bolts needed....stupid question I know but I really have no clue..

Another question that comes to mind are the O2 sensors....do I just take them out of the stock pipes and re-install them onto the new long tubes? I know on some cars you need extentions or some kind of adapter maybe?

25th, You went 13.8 @99 with just those small mods, and a 13.2 @ 101 with just the exhaust? I hope I can come close to your times because that must be some good driving. What tires did u have out back and what was your short time if you don't mind me asking?:SNSign: I still have the 225's out back and they don't hook at all really. I do have new 245's sitting in my moms living room waiting to be changed out.

he's a hell of a driver, and has some very well synched stock parts

Thats pretty good, I can't wait untill da grove opens up to see what the car will run.

I just checked my order status and I should have the cb by this saterday and will have it on and my new shocks when they get here by the end of next week.

Well I went 13.8 @ 99 with a Cobra intake, TB, CAI, headers, midpipe, catback and 3.73s (on a 26x10.5 ET Street).

Ran the 13.2 that day, later in the year ran 13.0 @ 103 with the same stuff and the LTs, Prochamber, and pulleys.

Then had the GT40 valves dropped in, and a MAF and went 12.5 @ 106. I like to abuse the car at the track a little!
