i got around to ordering my vortech SC trim kit, i should have it in a week or so and hopefully on the car ASAP! i am planning on 5 lbs for a while.

i am running 13.3s at around 103 now, with thumper heads, b-cam, bolt ons and gears i am hoping to hit mid to low 12s fairly easily with the additional 5 lbs of boost. i dont think i can hit 11s quite yet with just 5 psi but i could upgrade pulleys and stuff.

i will probably stay with 5 psi for now, i bought the kit new and it comes with a nice 3 yr warranty which is excellent!

how much of a trap speed increase do you think i will see at the track?

my friend has a mustang, he has a STOCK untouched engine, with an A-trim making 5 psi and with gears and a 5 speed he went 12.8s @ 106-107. the car was like a high 14sec car before the SC. if my SC trim helps me as much as it helped him i will be a happy camper.

That kind of thinking won't last long. I guarantee you will want more boost once you have it. The first time I drove mine with the blower, it blew my mind the difference the blower made.

Congrats and have fun with it.

You'll run 5 psi for a week, then you'll be ordering another pulley and a power pipe haha. Good luck with it man.

and if i do become addicted to boost will i run into any problems spinning the SC faster to achieve 8 psi?? vortechs are pretty good and i have never heard any stories of them going bad. but it will be hard to toss away a nice 3 yr warranty.

oh well i'll play it by ear lol

Get a 8 inch crank pulley.

8psi on a 90K mile factory longblock along with slicks, and some damn cold weather sent me 11.9 at 117

There ya go. Avoids having to remove the stock 3.33 pulley voiding the warranty, increases boost at the same time. Throw on a AFM Powerpipe or UPR Boostmaster Pipe and Youll be seeing the 8psi range easily.

Im running a SC with a 7" crank pulley, a 3.12 SC pulley, and a UPR Boostmaster pipe with similar mods as you (Ported E7's, mild cam, ect) and Im seeing 9.5 lbs @ 5800 rpm.

where can i get the bigger crank pullies for the supercharger?? and they will just stick into the stock crank pulley like vortech's does??

BTW, do the crank pullies in the vortech kits (or any kit for that matter) fit into UD pullies? or will i have to run stock pullies? dont bother me if i do, the gain from the SC will far outweigh the pullies lol

and how would vortech know if i removed the pulley off of the SC anyway?

yeah there's a bunch in okc, not really in Norman though. a few of each body style. my friend's coupe and my GT being a quarter of the stang population, lol. my car wasnt running until a few weeks ago too, so it wasn't running when school was still in. is she going to be at OU again this next semester?

Actually when i ordered mine with a different pulley they said that the Warranty of 3 years drops to 1 year if you swap pulleys. So there is still a warranty....just not as long.

I believe ASP sells the 7" crank pulley and probably an 8" one too. I had the 7" pulley running the stock vortech pulley on the compressor and seen 5psi on a trick flow top end kit using a boostmaster pipe from upr. Gave me almost 400rwhp and it was a great street car. I did have the seals go bad in the charger but it was a daily driver with about 50,000 miles after the install.
