Just thought I would post my street racing story from last night, I posted this on my local Mustang board, but thought some of you might like to read it.
First let me say that everything in the story below is true and I have my wife as a witness.
Went out downtown last night with the wife for a nice evening dinner. We drove back to Middleton at about 10pm through some unusually heavy traffic on University avenue. Some guy in a polished yellow Monte Carlo SS (license plate ME?O SS) was riding my ass for about 1/2 mile and weaving back and forth in the lane. I finally find an opening and pull over into the right lane to let him pass. Then my wife says "they're laughing at you", I look over and the Monte is right next to me with two guys laughing hysterically at me, then the driver punches it. We get to the next stoplight and I find myself right behind him. When the light turns green he smokes the tires through the light. As soon as I get into second I punch it and blow by him.
We come up to the next light and I can see the Monte pull over in the lane next to me. Now I know that my current combo of torquey motor, 3.73 gears and temporary 205x55 all season radials are probably not the best combo for the traction limited university avenue. But I take my chances and tell my wife to put her seat belt on because she's about to witness something special. I look over at the two guys, they're laughing at me still, and then it happened....they started making out! Now by making out I don't mean a peck on the cheak, the driver had his hand around the other guys head and they were tongue wrestling! At this point I'm at a loss about what to do, I suddenly realize that this is not a testosterone battle. I figure I have two options; take a right turn and find an alternate route home, or dump the clutch and get the hell out of there. I choose option 2....
