OT: Need help

The topic is fuel pressure.

On the Kitty and the Pony I can put my finger over the pressure hose off the fuel pump and know if I have the needed fuel pressure.

Real quick story. I have been playing with the SuperCoupe and the wife turned it sideways when she slipped on the accelerator. So the Doctor had a really nice 740 Volvo which I bought for her. Something happened overnight. It idles fine but surges between 800/1200 and will not go beyond 1200. Is this a fuel pressure problem or something else?? (specs say 38 psi but I can not find a repair manual for that model - in town - if I tried any harder)

Am I looking in the right direction or am I sleeping on the sofa until Volvo opens on Monday? Could it be the computer??

38 psi is about standard for a fuel injected motor. It sounds like something else is hindering it. Have you tried revving the motor at the throttle body?

What about ignition? The surging might be from a miss somewhere.

Clogged air filter? Clogged fuel filter? Worn out oxygen sensor? Any codes available?

Replaced the fuel pump and filter. Changed the mass air flow sensor and both engine relays. NO CHANGE!!

My guess is the O2 sensor or the throttle body sensor. Something is telling the ECU to shut down the injectors.

As far as codes, I can not find a book which tells me anything

I would go with the throttle position sensor. If it was the O2 sensor then the engine would rev up, but it would be choppy or shoot black smoke out of the tailpipes.
