over heating? clogged radiator?

hey guys, just got a call from my ex-girl (she is hot so we still talk ). so her car is over heating.... its not a stang. but as i have said before a car is a car.

she said she had the T-stat and coolent replaced the other day.a slo for some reason some fool put that "leak stopper" crap in. now i have heard that all it really does is clog stuff up. is it possible that this is why she is over heating? Also i was thinking to flush her cooling system, do you think this would solve the problem? if not will she need to replace the radiator all together? any ideas or suggestions are welcome. since she wants me to come over tomorrow night to help her..... thanks guys.

Check the cooolant level first. The person who replaced the t-stat & coolant may not have purged all of the air out of the system.

I have had the "leak-seal" stuff block up the passages in my heater core, but the radiator was OK.

Also, check to make sure you (she) has a 50%/50% coolant mix! Too much water and it will overheat. You need to have 5 balls floating with a coolant tester.

Check for airlock in coolant system, check coolant mix, verify that thermostat was not installed BACKWARDS!

ok, great. good thopughts thanks guys.

how would i purge all the air out of the system? flush it, then start over with a new mix of 50/50. leave the cap off till all the air is out???

drill a small hole in the outer lip of the t-stat. It will let the air pass through.

What kind of car? Electric fan or mechanical fan? Did it overheat while idling, or at speed, right away or did it take a while? Need more info.
