Overdrive slips, Won't engage

I have a 92 auto. When driving in the overdrive position on the shifter, all the gears shift great except for overdrive. Once it gets to overdrive, it slips. Almost like it's in neutral. When I drop it to drive, it drves fine... strong. Can anyone direct me to the problem. Thanks for any help.

most transmission shops will give you a free diagnosis and estimate....and get more that one diagnosis and estimate from different shops.... is the tranny the original tranny and what are the miles on the tranny it sounds like your getting ready for a rebuild overdrive goes out first alot along with reverse....

The car has 91000 on it. It's the original. The car is bone stock except for a cat back exhaust.

OD band is probably shot. Mine has been doing the same thing for the past year. I just put it in drive and go. Probably not the best for the trans but I gotta pull it and rebuild it anyway.
