is it ture that if u drive in overdrive all the time ur trainy will get worn out faster?
also going down a 1/4 mile is it better to not be in overdrive
 
Overdrive gear is actually utilizes band clamping around a drum to perform it's gear selection and not a set of clutches under direct pressure like the other forward gears. So yes, it's more subject to wear than the others. I would recommend turning the O/D off for quarter mile blasts or any towing applications where the O/D might become subjected to stressful situations. That being said, I've seen cars go 200-300k utilizing their standard Overdrive Gear placement selection for daily driving, so I wouldn’t put a whole lot of thought into it in that case. One of the best things you can do for your transmission’s longevity would be to add a plate style external transmission cooler to the mix. Keeping the ATF cool should always be your primary concern. :)
