Okay. If one more thing goes wrong with my 89GT I'm gonna set it on fire... I'm not kidding either :D

My stang has sat for basically all winter. It's been moved down the street a couple of times, but other than that it's sat still because it has no heat and needs a clutch. So my friend and I start the car yesterday to try and recreate my No Start When Hot problem and to adjust the electric fan cut on temp.

So after about 10 minutes with the fan going the temp shot up to about 250 deg. I left it there for about 30 sec to see if it was just the guage and then shut it off... any ideas? The thermostat is brand new (did it in November). I haven't changed the antifreeze but added a gallon before winter. There is nothing in the overflow but it had a leak I fixed and the car has never overheated before. Any clues??? :(

I would first check the level of antifreeze, there should always be something in the bottle. However, you did say it has no heat so I believe the next things you should check into is your heater core, it might be plugged up. Another problem with a plugged heater core is foggy windows. Hope this helps.

Is this on the stock gauge? Or Autometer/Aftermarket?

Is your thermostat stuck closed? (You can leave the cap off and run the car until it opens and see if it flows.)

Stock guage.
Heater core is bypassed.
I'll check to see if it flows when I get home... for some reason I didn't even think of that

Kevin's right on. It would not be the first time that some sitting allowed the stat to stick closed.

Good luck.

LMAO... I went home and put an entire gallon of antifreeze in. I was thinking... where'd it all go

So I start the car and let it warm up. When it got to temp I went to turn the fan on at the relay and antifreeze was everywhere!!! I think me gots a leak :)

The fan blew the antifreeze everywhere so I can't tell where it's coming from. So I'll do it over again this weekend and see if it is a leak and from where... thanks guys!
