OverHEATTING need help

Hey guys...
Day two of my car overheatting and i cant figure out whats the problem when shes cold she doesn't draw from the overflow and she never has antifreeze/water in the radiator i cant any leaks anywhere everything is as tight as can be. Oil looks fine and im not getting white smoke out the exhaust. i feel like i can't put enough antifreeze/water in her. Once in a while if i release some "air" pressure from the radiator when shes hot she will draw from the overflow and be ok but not working anymore... Need help asap!! Thanks

Is your overflow tank overfilled? If you can't find any leaks, is it possible that your cap is allowing coolant to piss out the whole time? You figure a 16lb cap only opens at 16lbs of pressure...but if it is bad maybe it is allowing coolant out at a very low pressure.

I don't know...just a thought.

Overflow tank is at best underfilled but always manages to fill up more and more, i just bought a new radiator cap thinking that might help something.... no dice the only thing i havent replaced is the thermostat, and i see no leaking or even spots where antifreeze was leaking before i opened the hood ex. while driving

Is your overflow tank broken/cracked?

When I removed mine last week I noticed it had a crack about half way down. It had been leaking coolant the whole time, but it was at such a pace where I didn't notice it.

I dont think so but i cant see it being, the car looses coolant too quickly for it to be a slow leak

You're gonna have to check everywhere with it idling at normal temp with a flashlight.

Sometimes you can have a leak coming from the a freezeplug on the back side of the motor and it will hit the exhaust. Do you smell antifreeze? Have you put more than 2-2 1/2 gallons in it? If so you have a leak.

Also check by the thermostat housing, the back of the intake. I've had leaks there before. The heater core is also a culprit sometimes :)
