P-51 + hood fitment

Ok I KNOW there has to be a thread on this somewhere, but for the life of me I can't find it. What hoods will clear a P-51? I know the stock is supposed to, but some instances it hasn't. This may be the case for me as well. Any ideas?

yeah, they say the stock one will fit, but I would go with a cowl hood... I like the steeda Q400

well i have seen only two p51s on stangs of my friends, one had a cobra r and it fit fine, and the other had a stock hood with the rail cut out and it rubbed. I think pretty much any slightly cowled aftermarket hood should work

i know that Cobra R hood will clear it but otherwise any cowl type hood should do it

haha

i've seen 3 of the p-51 installed now and they all rubbed on stock hoods. I remember the one kid who had a thread on here, and everyone ripped him for complaining about it not fitting after he was assured it would fit before purchase.

I like the 2000 R hood as well, but the 95 has more clearance. I guess I'll have to see just how much room I will need. The 95 has 3.5" raised while the 00R has 2" lift.

2" should be more then enough clearance. The ones i've seen in person were just rubbing barely...so an inch would do it just fine. So the 2 " would be good. But i guess its better to install it then see what you need. Supposedly this intake does fit on some cars with no clearance issues. So everyones tolerances are different. Make sure you post pics...

I think it had something to do with motor mounts. There seemed to be some variation between 99-04s in that regard. Some clear that intake with stock hood, some don't.

hmm..I got poly-urethane mounts...oh well just have to wait and see what happens
