Has anyone had any luck getting an Antique plate for their Mustang in Pennsylvania? I have a 65 coupe, but got denied because I had Krager mags on them. They requested new pictures with the original wheels on it. Unfortunately when I got the car, the original wheels were long gone. Now i either have to buy a couple of rims and wheels to take pictures or photo-shop something together. I was curious if anyone else encountered this problem, and if so how did they work around it.

-thanks
Glenn

There isn't a workaround for PA law that wants the car to appear as original in order to grant antique plates-that includes wheels. After the plates are attached, it seems that they will leave you alone to do what you want (although the po po could still always ticket you for the mods.) If you are not concerned about that, then find/borrow a set of wheels or even fasten a set of original hubcaps over the Keystones with tape or tie wraps or whatever.

How about a cheap out of the box solution? Do you have access to a plotter or a large printer? Blow up a classic hubcap photo and tape it over the wheels. Then have small photos developed to be sent to the DMV. Photos don't have to be very big so any such trickery might work.
