The shift kits range from $60-120
The PA valve body is $250

Pros of shift kit:
cheap
bang for the buck

Cons:
stuck with 1-D-1
essentially stock other than shifts and rpm

Pros of valve body:
full control of 1,2,3 with OD coming on when partial or no throttle is reached
more control

Cons:
cost

Based on all of this which would you guys go with?

Not sure PA makes that valev body anymore. Well that what I was told when a buddy called Holcomb to order one.. Might want to check into that. But you can get a Lentech or Art Carr for about $100 more,, they range from $349 up depending on what you want..

Get the manual valve body!! Dont waste your money on a Trashgo. Shifting into OD is not good, the stock bad is too weak. I burnt out my new OD band in a month using nitrous. It would shift into OD from the D position. Trashgo gave me too many problems about it and my shop wouldnt admit they installed it improperly when they rebuilt my tranny. So next on my list is an Art Carr manual valve body......

The PA valvebody would be a better choice. Get a non-locking converter while your at it so you won't snap the input shaft eventually. The car will shift and launch as good as/better than a manual and will be rated for about 450-500hp/tq. What kind of mods do you have? So we can set you up with what kind of stall you would want.

I never had any probs with my Transgo shifting into OD under WOT but I have heard many people say that they have. If I had done my homework a little better I would have gone VB instead of shift kit. But the shift kit was a Christmas gift so I can't complain, too much that is.

Check out my garage. It has my mods to my car. I am currently using a 3000 stall with a hardened input shaft.(not one piece) I talked to Greg at Baumann engineering and he set me up with a combo that could handle over 400 horses. He told me to stick with a lockup since this is a daily driven street car also. The tranny is rebuilt too. The shift kit still works properly, just no OD. This car shift so fast and so clean, so I am happy. But since I am running nitrous now and will be throwing on a blower, I want to control my shifts. The most gains to my car were done by focusing on my tranny and gears. Once the AOD gets up to par with the engine, its a very consistent performer. I never have to worry about missing a shift at the track. I just focus on getting a clean launch and making sure my car doesnt lean out on nitrous. I will try to post a video here so you can see how fast it bangs through the gears......
