Paint For Gauge Pointers?

Hi Folks,
What is the best type and color of paint for OEM gauge pointers? While I have my 68 instrument cluster apart to install a tach, it seems like a good time to clean the original gauges and refresh the faded pointers. Is model car paint the ticket, or is there some sort of irridescent that's best?

If you arent worried about it being "correct" you can do like I did....when I had my 67 cluster apart I dug through the wife's nail polish collection and found a nice red that worked great.

Are you also changing out the lights to LED? The same vendor has them and shipping can be combined. just a thought...

I used my daughters neon nail polish worked great

Any good hobby shop will have it- Testor's Fluorescent Red It is a perfect match. I applied it to my 66 back in 1982, and it still looks like the day I painted it.
