I ordered the black kick panels with the speak hole already cut...the question I have is...Can I paint them or do I have to actually dye them. I'd prefer to paint them since I have to paint the dash anyway thus getting a good match.
I have parchment interior by the way.

Normally you dye them... but since you ordered black panels, I don't think that's going to work.

Paint will work, but it will scratch and quickly start to look crappy. They do get kicked alot...You'll have to touch it up regularly.

I didn't realize the black ones couldn't be dyed ? Maybe someone can educate me on how the dying process works. I would prefer to paint them all things considered....anybody else have experience with painting them, if so, what prep work did you have to do ?

I painted mine.. just use a paint ment for plastic.

Just cleaned them well and sprayed away. However, I painted black on black... so it's difficult to see any scratches or imperfections.

Maybe you can dye black pannels to a different color... I've never tried.. but I kinda doubt it..

Paint them; dye is made for vinyl surfaces. Use a paint made for plastic as mentioned. It's available from most Mustang vendors so you get a good match.

hmmm which mustang vendor would that be? Also just an idea I have a vested interest because I just realized that mine are the same thing. Really handy for upgrading sound but not so handy for color ap[parent;y.. Would it be possible to get the kickpanel carpet and put it on there with a cut out for the speaker? I don't know it sounds like a longshot but hey nothing like electronics and flammable substances in the same vicinity right?

Here, for one:
http://store.cal-mustang.com/cm_able/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Product_ID=3553&CATID=19&CM_SA=0

I have seen a better selection at N.P.D. but their site is down right now.
