I bought a toneau cover fot my convert. It has the ford gray currenly on it. Should I -
#1. Sand it down
or
#2. Use paint remover

Will the sandind job mess up the cover. I'm not sure it if is urithane or fiberglass. Its from classic concepts.

Thanks

I'm not really experienced with auto finishes, but I use to finish wood, lot of laquer spraying. So here's my crack at it..if the finish that is on there already is in good shape could you just clean it/scuff it up and spray your color/clear coat right over it? Unless it's a super tight fit, can't see the paint build-up being a problem...just my .02, good luck with it

Sand it
Prime it
Paint it
The Gray is Gelcoat and needs to be sanded and then primed, sanded again, fill any pin holes, spray sealer, Then paint.
Don't skip any of the steps or you will regret it later.
