Does anyone have pics of thier car w/a paint job using pearl flakes mixed in w/the clear? I want to see how it looks. I want it to be a pretty dramatic difference in sunlight. I am going candy apple red w/gold flakes. Is mixing the flakes in w/the clear the best method to see a good colorshift in sun? Also what would laying down a base of gold before the red do? I was told that may help also.

Dont have any pics ( and if I did they wouldnt show the effect) I painted a Trans Am for my wife bright blue and mixed some violet pearl in the clear.. very nice effect without being over the top cheezy. At a glance it looked looked like the original blue but in some light and from different angles it looked purple. Dont expect a flip like the camielion or chromilusion paints but rather a nice subtle change in color. If youre looking for dramtic you might want to check with the house of color. I was very pleased, it got alot of compliments, but I think if a repair is needed it would be difficult to match and I would advise taking note of exacly how much pearl you mix in the clear in case you do need a repair

That sounds perfect...i dont want anything extremely over the top...so i should just mix in like 2 oz of flake into the clear right?
