painting equipment! what do you suggest?

I was just wondering what ya'll suggest using if you paint that is, i am looking at a craftsman 5 horse 25 gallon compressor i was just wondering if that would be sufficient, its used and only 130 bucks and in very good shape so if it will work fine for painting i may get it. Thanks for any suggestions.Later

It will work OK for painting. I would be a little concerned it would have a hard time keeping up with a 25 gallon tank. Depends on how you like to paint, I personal pound it on nice and heavy with a 1.5 tip in the gun and air preasure at 28 psi, and the fuild tip wide open. But I learned how to spray with a pressure pot 20 years ago!!!

Way too small. You need a compressor that will keep up with the tool being used. A typical HVLP gun uses up to 17 cfm to run. The size of the storage tank is not up to the gun. You need around 60 gallons to be even marginal.

Clean, dry air is needed. You need to have a particulate filter, oil coalescor and desiccant filter to get it that way.

Painted my car myself in my garage and yah that is way too small, i have a 65 gal and even that sucks sometimes. There's a lot of work involved in painting and depending on how you want the car to look you gotta buy the tools to do a good job. Gotta have a regulator on the gun too especially with a HVLP gun.
