I'm thinking of modding a set of 18" factory fanblades, these are the pre '08 wheels so currently they are polished with painted siilver pockets...

My car is torch red. I'm tossing around ideas of either painting the pockets gunmetal (similar to the '08s) or black or torch red... anybody ever seen these wheels polished and painted body color? I think it might be cool, but I'm afraid it would scream 1980's

thoughts, opinions, comments?

This is what the new Mustang wheels look like. Is this what you mean?

I know a few people have some photoshop skills (I don't have it on my computer here), and it wouldn't be difficult to photoshop a picture of your car to show you painted wheels to match your color.

You could also use vinyl to see what it looks like on the wheels. It would come off easy and you could paint them later if you did like it.
I too have the plain fanblades on a 2007 torch red and have wondered what they would look like painted red. I am not curious enough so far to try it and do have some concerns that it would be too much. I also kind of like them plain.

The gunmetal fanblades aren't that much of a shock to our eyes since the Konig Beyonds look very similar. Going red on the other hand may be a bit much as the spokes on these wheels are quite large. Thus making huge red spokes:shrug: I personaly wouldn't do it. Maybe if the wheel is painted silver and have the raised edges of the spokes painted red to match.

Very crude, but here it is in Redfire. The solid centers like stangdude's looks much better than my idea of the raised part only.

Thanks kooldawg :D

I sort of like the full spoke body color, agree with stangdude though, not sure if torch red would be too much...

I might go ahead and give it a try, if I can find an extra wheel on the cheap! I'll be sure to post.

I really think it will depend on the color of the car. On some of the lighter colors, silvers and such, I think it can look awesome, like the pics from AquaTeen2004. But on a torch red, I think it may be a bit too much.

I'd have to see a picture of it done, but even visualizing it in my mind, I have a vivid image of an 87 IROC with bright red stripes in the wheels to match the body. Granted, I do love the 3rd gen Camaros, and have some fond memories of driving one around blasting Bon Jovi and WhiteSnake......But that look/image/sound just won't work with our S197's. Perhaps if you could find a wheel that embodies the sound of the Beatles, the Beach boys, and the Who, you'd have a winner..... OR, perhaps I'm just a little to drunk to be thinking about it......

I kind of think it would be too much too. I am taking the subtle look on my 2007. That's why so far I have stayed away from stripes. I have added the black honeycomb panel between the taillights and that's about it as far as exterior mods.
I think torch red already is noticeable enough by police, etc. and I want the stealth look.
I am thinking about adding at least the front California special fascia. My dealer, though, wants $350 for the complete kit which seems a bit high, though he said is well below retail. He also thought it was a bit high.
Any thoughts or comments?

That's a good deal. Ford's pricing has gone through the roof. This is the cheapest source I know of, and you still have to pay for shipping.

My dealer said the rear fascia would cost me about $250. That does seem to be a good deal compared to the fordgenuineaccessory site.
And while my dealer may charge me sales tax, he has never charged me one cent for shipping no matter what I ordered.
I may consider the fascias in late spring or summer. My body shop wants $250 each to paint the front and back and install them. I'd be looking at a little over $1,000 by the time it was all said and done.
Is it worth that? I don't know.

To be able to walk out to your car everytime and say, "Damn that looks great!". I'd say it is easily worth it:nice:
Side note:I just got my second set of rims today(awaiting tires next week)and I don't regret it for a second:nice:

i am going to piss some people off but the best thing you can do to fan blades is take them off. sorry but i just dont like them. i think that they look worse than the stock bullit style. save up some money and buy some shoes for your car. there are tons of deals on ebay.
