paper towel in motor URGENT

friend of mine had a paper towel to protect things from going into intake but forogot it take it out, and it got sucked in, any advice?

I can't see that as causing any problems. It's just gonna burn up once the car is fired up. Otherwise you can try one of those long flexible grabby things (that's the real technical name too! lol) and try and get it out.

Where EXACTLY did it get sucked into? The throttle body? The upper intake? The distributor hole?

it was in the intake (cause we took the tb off) but its all good now it just burned off as cman said

thanks for helping.. i cant belive i forgot to look for it before we put the tb back on...

by the way this is my dads name (i didnt make one yet, but i own a 94 mustang) so i know this was a dumb question but dont bash on him for it please

My buddy left a rag in his intake when he painted it. It got sucked down into the motor and bent all his valves lol.

That sucks dude! I guess a rag won't burn up as easily as a paper towel.

I did the same thing once, but it was one of those blue super absorbant ones you can buy at autozone. The car WOULD NOT start; it took me forever to figure out what it was lol

Lol, yep, that's what mine looked like, what a b*tch. I had no actual damage; it was a non-interference motor (ford 2.3t)

Looks like that guy must have had paper towels stuck in every cylinder head port... maybe during an intake swap? That sucks.

yea i was wondering if it would screw up the valves any, which is why i didnt want to start it, but it would idle just very low and choppy (actually died once) but now it runs like a champ again, just gave it a little bit of rpms and it shot out some white smoke, regardless not good for it, but its a good thing it was only 2 regular paper towels

anyways soon ill resgister my name and get some pics and what i is done to it

Man, I'd still be scared to fire up a motor with a paper towel in the intake. Paper does not burn clean like gas does, so there would be soot and lots of carbon left behind to muck up the pistons, cylinders, valves, rockers, etc. etc. etc.

Glad to hear it worked out for you, but I probably would have advised more caution and say tear the intakes off at least to pull as much out as you can.

(headlight fluid, hehe. I forgot that I need to bleed mine after the last strut rotation!! you all do rotate your struts right?)

^you can only rotate em front to back on the 95 1/2 model years.
