T.o.
my parking brake cables have seized, so i have decided to change them. Never done it on a stang, any tricks? was wondering about backing plate to rear drums and how to get that unhooked, and i heard that the center console has to come out. Give me some pointers

The parking brake system has 3 cables on models that I know about. One cable from the parking brake handle to the yoke or bracket that connects to the other two parking brake cables. To replace the parking brake cable on drum brakes, you have to remove the brake shoes. You'll need a Chilton or Haynes shop manual to do that. The parking brake cables have a spring clip on them that holds them to the backing plate and a similar clip to hold them in the chassis mounts. Use a small worm gear clamp slid over the end of the cable where it sticks through the mount. Then gently tighten the clamp and it will compress the spring legs and allow you to pull the cable out of the mount.
