Parts store rant

Ok what the **** is wrong with ****ING parts stores these days? Who's the IDIOTs that input the data for the parts, and who's the IDIOTs that decides stocking priorities?

I have an easier time finding parts for 30+ year old mopars than I do this 95 mustang...

No one makes the flex hoses for the firewall lines to the rails, ford included.... so wtf do you do if you need one?

two dealerships did not have the PCV filter for this motor, it was only made for how many years in how many different vehicles?

Probably the worst was the throttle body gasket.... dealership had no listing. I went to 8 count them 8 different parts stores not including the dealer to try and find the gasket. ALL of them had the wrong listing, had fox body **** listed. Once I found out the correct part number NONE of the aforementioned 8 parts store had it in stock :crapola:. I needed it that day mother****ers not tomorrow not next week not next month. Ended up re-using old one....

Then the belt, the car came with a belt that was far too ****ing short, figured he just got the wrong one. Go to the parts store, guess what they hand me the same ****ing belt :uzi:. Go through the usual crap, guy says the first one is 87 inches, they list another one that is 105" long. Drive across town and get that one, guess what TOO LONG  :chair:. Finally pull the belt off my parts car 94 and bring it to the store, turns out it's a 100.5" belt and it is not listed for a 94/5 mustang.... WTF DIP****S. The first belt was so short you could use it as a powersteering/ A/C bypass belt. How the **** do they not catch this ****? /rant over

The PCV filter (mesh screen) is often listed as a breather. It's the same for fox III's as I recall. Motormite makes a version IIRC.

For that and the PCV valve and grommet, I'd recommend going OEM. The aftermarket valves often don't fit too well. Do it right and forget it for a couple years.

Good luck.

I work at a parts store and it's true, we don't stock alot of needed parts [but we have TONS of clear taillights and fartcans if you own a civic] and it does get aggervating. But don't blame the people behind the counter because they're not the ones who decide what to stock on the shelves nor have any way to change it. Trust me, I've made suggestions and such to stock different parts, but never had any such luck...

Sorry.

Need gaskets? use fanta.

As to t he parts stores. yeah you are right. I went to 5 stores including hardware stores AND the ford delaership and no go on the trans crossmember bolts. They say the car it too old to keep parts for.

as for the thorttle body gasket, I worked with the guy at the ford parts counter for about 15 minutes searching his computer and we finally found it, it was on a diff car that had the 5.0 intake that looked like our stocker. I think it was a tunderbird but dont quote me on that one. Its sad when the ford comps dont reconize our cars as to having a diff intake/tb gasket.

for the hose...I just got a couple feet of heater hose for my car (3/4" IIRC) and made my own tubes.

works even better now that I shortened the heater tubes on the intake and I have a vortech setup so one hose goes around the engine

LMR should have some good pcv valves, screens, and grommets. I think they even sell a package

+1

I've found the EGR and TB gasket by asking for the pice for a thunderbird.

Well every city has it's own "decent" parts place. In Tucson, we have Merle's which ends up being better than the dealer for parts stock (and parts knowledge). You just gotta call a couple notable mechanics to see what they know. But nowdays, Checker and Vatozone are going downhill slowly but surely and I've never like Pepboys. Napa has come through for me a few times though but I'm loyal to Merle's before any other.

I stopped going to one of the autozones by my mom's house when I saw that they were running a special on kingsford charcoal. As tiny as that one was, they still managed to find a big 5' section to display the charcoal, WTF!

-1, I forgot to mention I asked them to check 91-93 T-birds, all pulled up the same fox body stuff...

There's no independant auto stores around me, they're all chains. There is one good Kragen cuz it's sort of a hub, that's the one I discovered the correct gasket number at but even they didn't have it in stock .

just buy bulk fuel injection hose not heater hose ....and for the parts store thing i worked in one for a very long time and parts for our cars are availiable just never on hand usually since the stores are stocked on a as needed basis....if more people shop the stores in your area for rice cars then thats the majority of the market hense what they stock ...

for the record i will never shop autozone they are 100% worthless at everything

OOOHHHHH sorry, I thought you were talking about the heater hose.

when you said firewall lines to the rails......I thought you meant the 2 hoses off the firewall...going to the heater hose tubes.

my bad :D

I run -8 AN feed, -8AN crossover, and -6AN return...braided lines.
