patriot performance heads, any good

hey hows it going. just wanted to know if anybody ever bought these heads? are they any good? there the new freedom heads, aluminum heads at iron prices, 895.00 dollars fully assembled. also how much power diffrence would the heads to compared to trick flow twisted wedge heads for a 5.0 mustang. thanks.

not sure about there 5.0 heads. i didnt even know they made 5.0 heads. but i ran there stage 2 4.6l heads on my 96 gt and was waaayyyyyyy impressed.

well unless you have nething done to your short block you will have to be very carefull with what you do cams / heads those heads would be nice but you should try and get them with 190 /160 valves bc you will end up having pvc issues allmost nomatter what

I just bought a set of these for my car, they came to my doorstep $850 shipped (I got a deal) and they look amazing. They are bowl blended also and are the best out of box heads Ive ever seen for the price. I have bolted them on the motor but not run them yet. If you want to run more than .540 lift you will need different springs. I did alot of reaserch before I bought these but they are suppose to flow just like a performer RPM head but the ports are polished more. Im highly impressed, plugged them into dyno software and they are outflowing my headers and match my victor jr. Check back end of September when my car is together and Ill have a better performance report. Chris

thanks. i might buy a set of these, i would just like to know how they perform first, to bad there wasen't a horsepower comparison, between these and say trick flow, edelbrock, afr, etc.

Sounds pretty much like this heads. Buddy of mine has bought two sets now. Both make very good hp. Both set where $850 shiped to the front door. The valve spring are junk tho i wouldn't run them.

What kind of motor do you plan on puting the heads on?

If you looking to put a set of heads on a stock 302 bottom end i would go with a set with 190cc intake runners and 1.90 1.60 valve that way they clear the pistons.

They are not the same heads. The patriot freedom heads are only offered with 185cc intake ports and they claim that they flow pretty well. Here's a link to a thread discussing them on corral.

It's almost mid OCT and i was wondering about the performance of the heads? Did you get your car back together? How did they perform? I was contemplating some aluminum heads also and was thinking AFR185's on my stock short block after i fly cut my pistons. Eventually i will get a rebuild and it will probably be a 331CI that's why i chose the AFR185's and just want the most power i can have for the least amount of coin. Any imput would help alot.

In 5.0 mag. this month they put these heads on a typical 5.0 mustang. With a steeda #18 and a cobra intake ( Not a very well matched combo if you ask me ) and made 300 rwhp without a tune.

I know these heads look good but I'm just not sure about the valvetrain quality.

Got my car running finally after 2 years. The car runs great, it will be a while till I have it on the dyno to give you some real world numbers. But after driving it yesterday and the day before Im highly impressed. Keep in mind my car is far from stock. I have 1990 GT, Carb set up with a Holly 750 DP, F303 cam, Scorpion rockers, Victor Jr intake, * Patriot Heads* , serpentine drive with only alternator, BBK long tubes, Full MSD ignition and a 4.10 gear out back. This car even just of idle seems to have a ass ton more power. I have still yet to tune it and put it on the dyno. I've heard talk that these heads flow identical to Edelbrock Performer heads. The exhaust ports on the heads were bigger than my BBK long tubes, I think the heads are more than worth the money. I'll get some actual dyno numbers soon.

Well, i have a little 306 with stock crank, and rods, and Probe forged flycut pistons, mac long tubes and prochamber, flowmasters that are dumped, edelbrock rpm air gap intake, holley vaccum secondary 650, and only running a water pump and alternator on the front, and electric fans. i was running the stock heads with this setup and a ford racing B303 cam with 1.7 rockers and a 150 shot of nitrous and i dynoed in at 409hp and 537 torque to the wheels. well i just bolted on these patriot freedom heads and without any tuning i can feel a huge difference. i did have to fly cut the pistons to clear the 2.02 intake valves. it feels like the stock heads with a 100 shot of NOS. but tomorrow i will put the car back on the dyno and see how much i picked up. without nitrous the car was making 287hp and 302 torque. the heads are actually beautifully built and machined, but i dont know how good the valvetrain is going to hold up.

patriot heads first dyno run

well i finally got my beast on the dyno tonight and the numbers are as follows. 338.7hp and 343.7 torque to the wheels at 12.8 afr, to the crank the numbers are 392.9hp and 397.8 torque. not bad for a mostly stock short block. so it was a little lean, so tomorrow i will jet the carb up a little and play with the timing to see if i can squeeze out some more. if everything is good from there i am going to squeeze the juice and pray she holds together. so, i ended up with about 78 more hp and 41 more ft lbs of torque over the stock heads. so i would say that the heads are definately worth the money.

Man those are great numbers,sounds like they make power.338 should net some good numbers at the track. Keep us updated on what it runs. Those guys are close to me so'll I'll give them a call and see what they have and see if I can get my next car going with some numbers like yours. You definately got your moneys worth, good to know there's companys out there with performance like that with low cost

patriot heads any good?

Seems to me that everyone is overly concerned about the valvetrain that comes with the heads, but say they are well built. If i was to rebuild the valvetrain how much would that cost? Wouldn't it be better to just buy AFR?
