that immunity should have been contingent on Walsh providing the tape that he claimed he had of the Rams Super Bowl Walk Through. otherwise he should have been fair game.

what a douche nozzle.

huh? that makes no sense. Walsh has sent 8 tapes to the NFL now that he has immunity. the NFL will probably penalize the Pats even more now. what did i open my mouth too soon about?

He didn't send them anything they didn't know about already. Belichick already admitted about taping the signals dating back to 2000 and they had all of his notes, including the AFC Championship game against the Steelers. They already knew everything that was given to them because it had already been admitted from Day 1. They won't be penalized unless Walsh suddenly pulls some crap out of his ass in the interview, which he doesn't have. He already sent everything he had and already told the commish that's all he has, but he still has the interview to go to. The Pats can't be penalized for "he-said" kind of crap without solid evidence, which there will be none.. it's all going to be a bunch of words and accusations now, if anything.

Walsh = biggest waste of time ever.

I hope the Spy gate saga comes to an end, but it may taint whatever dynasty the pats had. It may taint the legacy of Belicheat and even maybe Tom Brady.

It shouldn't (keyword: shouldn't) taint the dynasty or Brady; None of the players had anything to do with filming signals, they just take orders from the coaches and take in information given to them. Players such as Ted Johnson and Drew Bledsoe have admitted they have been given info, but never knew where it came from. Johnson said he had been given sheets of audibles for upcoming teams on the day of the game and never knew or questioned where they came from since it's a common practice for coaches from other teams to give their friends (fellow coaches) audibles they picked up on in previous games with a common opponent. Willie McGinest was recently interviewed about the whole matter and he said he didn't know about the taping of signals, but that film can't make interceptions/tackles/sacks/td passes.

Honestly, I don't think it should taint Belichick's legacy since every coach has stolen signals in whatever manner they used at the time, whether they want to admit it or not. BUT, i'm sure it will just because his method was the only one that got caught and made public. Other coaches/players have talked about trying to steal signals and how they did it, but none of them will be tainted just because it was a common practice back in their time (although some of them are still in the league today) and they haven't had the dynasty that the Patriots have had (Belichick is the only coach to win 3 SB's in 4 years). Parcells has said that anyone who thinks their signals aren't being stolen is completely ignorant; so that shows another great coach who has stolen signals.

I watched/heard Ron Jaworski explained in detail how his team (the Eagles) stole defensive signals from opposing teams when he played QB for them; he had his backup QB watch the defensive playcaller give signals during the game and watch what the defense was doing, then by the middle of the 2nd quarter he would hold a red towel and based on what he did with the towel (drop it, hold it up, etc), it would tell Jaworski what the defense was going to do (blitz, drop into coverage, etc) so he could call an audible and adjust to it.

But I agree.. I hope this crap goes away and isn't heard from after this upcoming season.

I dont think it will change how people see Brady either, and to your point it really shouldn't. But I think it will probably always be something to be discussed when talking about Belichik and his success in NE. He needs to win another championship before he is done or it will defiantly stick around for the long haul.

But to your last point, having a backup QB looking at signs is an altogether different animal than taping them. With tape you can go over them as much as you want and not have to rely on someones memory.

Anyway, I am excited for next season. Its still a ways away but it just seems to be getting further and further away since hockey and bball are almost over, all we are going to have sports wise is freakin boring ass baseball until the NFL season starts.

I agree with that, but the tape wasn't available for use that day if they needed it.. so that didn't provide as immediate of an impact as the method used by the backup QB. They just had to hope the signals didn't get changed.

But man.. I can't wait for next season! w00t!!... Ordering tickets friday morning for the Steelers vs. Patriots game in New England.. It will be my first NFL game.. w000t!!

There is a few things that should be learned from todays news..

1. svttech76 was right on about 99 percent of what the tapes were used for.. Go read last years NFL thread.. I TOLD you guys that the tapes were meant to be used for latter games.. What the clowns on ESPN are trying to feed you is garbage.. it's IMPOSSIBLE to break down and edit the tapes and use them in a game plan for the same game.

SAD thing is many of these clowns are former players WHO KNOW BETTER

2. Most of the media will make a story even if there is nothing there.. In this case the patriots were HELPED by todays conference.

3. the patriots were wrong in what the did... but this whole thing was blown so far out there that the credibility of these media outlets needs to be questioned and possibly sued. FACTS are that this practice went on in the NFL for years ( I have linked storys in past posts from way before belichick coached the pats on the widespread use of this exact practice)

BTW the rules are a little fuzzy I can see how somebod trying to skirt the rules could think they could get away with this.

Further proof of Belichick thinking this was a minor thing to do wrong is the fact that he continued to do it AFTER they warned him and everybody else.. Belichick must have thought they would have continuied on with the way the used to handle this matter... Ignore it since it has little to no effect on outcomes of games..

I called it months ago that Walsh had no tape of a walkthrough.. For one because it does not make any football sense to film a walkthrough..

mabye I should be a talking head on ESPN since I am much better informed than those frauds.

Sorry but the only ones who got pwwwnnnnned is the fools who fall for every stor the media tries to blow up..

I am off to bask in my rightness! See you all next season...

WOOOOOOOOOOO! Everyone needs to shut the **** up about the Patriots "cheating".. Those NFL players that ESPN has both talked about how they stole signals/cheated during games.. and how another team got caught a year or two ago, but nothing happened to them and a big deal wasn't made about it.

How about the Dolphins?! THOSE CHEATERS!!! They wore microphones in their uniforms when they played the Pats in the first meeting of the two teams in '06 to record the audibles and everything.. Why weren't they fined/ridiculed?.. Because they suck!! Look how much cheating helped them for this past season.. my point exactly! All of the teams in the past that have cheated (but haven't had the success of New England) haven't been scrutinized like this and called frauds/fakes.. So why say that about the patriots? Because they kicked the **** out of your favorite team year in and year out? Come on, use some common ****ing sense about this. You could have all the video of signals in the world, but if your players can't execute and make tackles, then what does it matter?... It's not X's and O's, it's about the Willy's and Joes (as a coach once said).

I hope the Patriots destroy everyone in their path next year and win the SB just to prove all of the hating bastards wrong.

No, I could care less. It's not like we didn't have a better one anyways.

I'm tired of all the dumbasses coming in here and talking **** about that stuff when they don't even know the full details about the matter or the history behind stealing signals/trying to gain a competitive advantage. Everyone acts like the patriots were the only team to ever try it, when they obviously weren't.

Your team was the only one to get caught doing it after the league sent out the memos warning against it. You can try to argue it however you want, but when you are taping a team's signals that most definetly gives you a huge advantage. To try and turn this around and make it appear you/the Pats were the victims is simply insane IMO.

They didnt get vindicated of anything, the "tapes" proved that they didnt just tape defensive but also offensive signals. But Walsh was basically sucking the patriots dong in everything he said. He was complementing the organization that not too long ago he was saying cheated. I am not one for conspiracy theories but that is kinda odd imo.

But all we know is that since 2000 the Patriots have cheated. The only thing up for debate is how much or how little it has helped. But saying the rule is fuzzy is ridiculous, its quite clear stating that you cant tape signals anywhere a team employee has access. Pretty much meaning you cant tape signals. And its not like the league didnt send out TWO memos saying as much.

you could take away the Pats 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round picks, and Belichick will still find guys who will play better than the rest of the league's 1st round picks, so not like it really mattered.

Hell Tom Brady was a 6th? 7th round pick? he sure plays a hell of a lot better than Mr. First Round Pick Ryan Leaf ever did.

oh snap...he's not even in the league anymore. isn't he selling insurance now?

btw...spygate is over, the cheating crap is over, so people just need to get off new england's nuts. they're going 19-0 this year, with the easiest schedule in the NFL, and they will win the Super Bowl this time. even though im a broncos fan, the Pats have it made.

Bill Belichick already admitted taping offensive signals, along with the defensive ones. That was something that was already known to the league, so it wasn't any new info. Walsh thought he had some stuff, but it turned out he didn't have what was expected. He provided some info that was already assumed, but not spoken.. and he cleared up the Rams walkthru myth.

Yes, I CAN seriously mean that! I think believe #7 overall pick (which turned into a #10 overall and another 3rd round pick) is better than the #31 overall pick. Give me a break.

Exactly. Plus, they know how to get players in free agency (even when others say they're all washed up). They also picked up Randy Moss for a 4th round pick!.. Asante Samuel and Ellis Hobbs were both 2nd day picks. Brady was a 6th round pick. They know how to find potential late in the draft, unlike most teams.

Who are "us"? I really hope you don't mean anyone but the Colts. The Colts are the only ones who can give us a run this year. The Chargers, Seahawks, and Steelers aren't going to do anything against the Pats in the season.

My last comment on the Spygate scandal:
Specter needs to leave the gov. out of this thing; they've got better things to do, such as a war overseas. I don't care what team is involved, I wouldn't support government investigation into the matter.. it's a freaking game, it's not life or death. I have the same view on that as I did on the Mitchell Report; it's not going to do much to help and it'll only drag out the bad publicity for the sport for a long time to come. But, I will let the Patriots do the talking for me on the field next year.

Colts @ Patriots for AFC Championship; anything can happen in that game, so I can't predict the outcome, but of course I hope the Pats will win.. The winner of that game will win the Super Bowl.. quote me on it.

I don't think it's a toss up, Shanny just outcoaches Belicheck. We always play tougher than they do.

Chiefs always play us tough, but we will likely own them for the next few years as they are in a very dismal state. Next to the Raiders I hate the Chiefs more than any other team in the NFL.
