I bought a fram pcv valve and it has a 90 degree elbow attached to it with 2 outlets. Bascially, it looks nothing like the one on my car already. Does that elbow just come off and the rest slides into the hose? I havent opened it yet incase i have to take it back.

I have ran into that same thing before. Yep you can just pull the rubber elbow off.

Be sure it's a good snug fit into the grommet - I've found with anything other than the Motorcraft pcv's, they fit rather loosely in the grommet - which can create a vacuum leak.

Michael makes a good point. Even though I have just pulled the rubber elbow off and used the metal pcv valves from the parts store, they never fit as snug as Motocraft pcv valve.

same here i ended up using a motorcraft pcv valve as sometimes the purolator one i was using would fall out and cause a big vacuum leak.

thanks again for all the replies, the fram one i used fit snug but I think i am going to go to ford and get the whole setup (grommet, screen, valve) so it will all be new like.

it sux that you can only get the screen(element) from ford... I bought a typhoon intake and the rubber part is not staying in, but i have bigger problems and i guess that can wait for silicone or something until later.

Actually you can get the screen at the parts store too. I have bought them at advance before. I would still recomend getting it all from ford though.

Yep, in fact, I had my new 92 vert dropped off at a shop I used before. I had my mom pick up a new PCV valve from Autozone and the shop refused to install it for the exact reasons stated above. I had forgot about the fitment problem. Good catch on their part. Something to do when I get home again.
