PCV problem.

Do they make higher flow pcv's? I have a factory one on a 67 mustang 408 stroker engine. I had to idle it up to keep it runnin then when i pulled the line off the pcv i had to idle it back down and it ran fine. I checked the pcv and its not stopped up neither is the line. What do you guys think? Thanks

Yes there are different flow rates. I think the larger displacement = larger flow rate. I have been told by old timers that getting a 426/460 pcv for a cammed up small block will help it idle.

In my opinion an open breather would work best in this situation. Plug the PCV hose on the carb and place the filter right on top of your valve cover. You can find them at your local auto store.

Pcv

I run a 382 winsor and use dual closed breathers into a tee then into a filtered puck can. This works fabulous and is needed for racing. Summit carries everything you need.

Not the best choice for a street engine. The air flow of the PCV helps to keep the engine clean inside. A PCV valve is just a controlled vacuum leak, it sounds like his is not "leaking" enough. Try a valve from a larger displacement engine before you eliminate the valve.

I got a different pcv sunday and put it on it helped. It still pulls the motor down some but i guess any restrictions are gonna do that. What is a good idle speed after the engine warms up i have mine idle at 900 right now do ya think thats to high an idle?

I'd get rid of the PCV system on a stroker engine.

It is the controlled vacuum leak that helps it idle. If you get rid of the PCV system, you will have to find a way to make the carb idle without it, which sounds like your problem.

Don't understand the comment about ditching the PCV on a stroker. I run a factory system of my 393 and it works great.
