I'm working on installing the Mustang Steve cable clutch in my '67. I spent over 2 hours of my day banging on the cowl floor so I can get the clutch pedal in but I'm not having much luck. Would it be easier to take out the pedal support and get the pedals installed then reinstall the support? If so what's the deal with the nuts on the support. Mine are about 3/4 round then flat. Is there a special tool for these? Also is there an easier way to find the placement of the hole in the firewall then what the instuctions give. It's pretty tight up there. Thanks.

yes, remove the support. i think the nuts you refer to are captured nuts, and you need to remove the bolts that hold it to the firewall.
