I need some valvetrain guidelines, sort of a Stangers Guide to Setting up your Valvetrain. I have a few books in my library, but they just describe what the parts are, not when they're necessary. I know what a pushrod is.
Here's what I'm looking for:
How much cam can pedestal-mount rockers take? Or, said another way, at what point should they be converted to studs?
Guideplates? At what point? Solid or hydraulic influence decision? Can guideplates be used with pedestals, and is that a good idea?
Pushrods? How good are the stock pushrods? What do you think of adjustables? When is 7/16" smart?
...And other details I'm sure I'm over looking. Looking to prepare the stage for a cam upgrade.
Thanks all!
