So i installed BBK LT....



And i do beleive it has leak right at header meets head. when i installed header, i reused stock gasket. but iguess they failed to do its job, so where and what kind of gasket should I get(or should I have gotten befor idid the install)?
i'm thinking one of these Aluminum gasket by Percy's High performance inc(summit part numberPHP-66033) . but i'm not sure whats best out threr. should i go with graphite kind?

I used the gaskets SLP sent with my headers, I ruined one of them though trying to put the header on without dropping the k-member, lol. I went to Autozone and the ones they had looked just like the ones SLP sent almost.

this is what it looked like.. I guess they're cheaper than what most people will tell you to get (only cost me about $14) but I haven't had any problems and the headers have been on since April.

drivers side leak??

if it is....check the EGR connection. it can sound like it's coming from the head, but it's not obviously

I feel bad for you That is not going to be fun to replace It is going to be like doing the job all over again. Good luck I had the SLP that came with gaskets which are not even close to the same as the stock gaskets. Has anyone else installed BBK LT using the stock gaskets with no leaks?

ya i spent 4 days,and took 2 days to realize that i should have gotten better gasket. But i think i'm going to get PA racing Tubeler K-member at the same time...

Ford's stock gaskets are about the best you can get. We reuse the stock one's if there in good shape or buy new one's if needed. Most of the aftermakert gaskets will blowout over time and cause more problems then there worth.

When I installed my BBK LT's I went to the local performance shop to get better gaskets. I showed them the BBK gaskets and said I needed something better. They said the BBK gaskets looked really good and there was no need to buy anything else... He must have been drunk, those gaskets SUCK! Damn stupid people...

Wow, same thing has happened to me. I reused stock gaskets and have been dealing with a bad passenger side leak since the install. Sounds like crap and is going to be a ***** to replace, but this time I'll drop the K and know what I'm doing. (wish I could get a tubular K to replace it this time) I think I'm gonna get new stock gaskets because they obviously work the first time you use them. Good luck and wish me luck as well!

probrem with stock gasket is that there is little bu,p between each port. with stock manihold, its not an issue, as there is room on manihold to clear that. But with BBK LT and continues flat frange, it becomes probrem, as it'll interfere with frange.
And i can not flip it over as they are directional. so I have to flatten it out and bend bump otherway. that might have made it not work right. i dont know

u ain't gonna beleve this. leak turned out to be my O2 senser backingout of bong!!!!!!!!
tighten the O2 Senser, leak is gone!!

No ****?! Which one was it. I have a bad leak in mine somewhere and I will freak out if it is just the O2 sensor. I am dreading going back under the car to redo the entire install to replace the gaskets. When you looked under the hood, did it sound like the leak was coming from the passenger side right under the heads, or did it sound like somewhere near the o2 sensors??

I’ve got a set of Mr Gasket Ultraseals for mine (PN5927). http://www.mr-gasket.com/ProductDet...ajID=500&minID=5006&selection=&minselection=#

They’re of a much better quality than the stock steel two piece ones. I ordered the stock style first, but didn’t like the way they looked, then the Fel Pros, which were exactly the same as the stock ones, so I got the Mr Gaskes afterwards and they’re a much better gasket. More meat around each port, a more pliable sealing surface and not to mention they’re one piece.

Now, when you install them, make sure to tighten from the center, outwards and in small increments. Make them tight, but don’t crank them right down. Bring the engine up to operating temp, drive it around for a bit, let it cool right down to stone cold, then re-torque them. You might need to do this a couple of times to let the gaskets seat properly. A set of locking header bolts might be a good idea, to prevent them from backing out too.


EDIT

Damn, I get all the way to the bottom and find out it was your O2 sensor. Ah well....the info is here for anyone who wants it.

i didn't know where the leak was. it was only there when i was "on it".
But now i think about it, it might have been more prominent at passenger side. i'm not sure

it was both front O2 which was loose. rear was okay.

I mean there is tiny bit of tinnyness left, but i think thats just how it is. I listned to clip(this clip) at bottom of "how to" at Fnsweet.com, which is what i followed, and eventho clip is of Bullitt, mine sound almost identical to that now...

Hey Gearbanger, i'm pretty sure i'm ordering PA racing tubuler K-Member soon. when i do i'll need new gasket. Thanks for the info
