I know a lot of guys talk about this and im interested in getting one. I just want some more info on which one I need etc. I have a Ramchargers Dual Fan with a 160amp alt upgrade. If I have all the accessories on and I turn the fan on, it will draw the lights down a tad like the stock alt used to do. Will the DCC take care of the voltage surge when the fan is turned on? Also, does the DCC turn the fan on when the car gets to a certain temp like a thermostat? Which model would work for me? Thanks

The DCC will slowly bring the fan up to speed, and only use as much "fan power" as needed to keep it cool. You'll never notice it kicking on and off unless you have an indicator light on it. If it needs to go to full speed, which is rare, you may notice a drop in voltage at idle, but it won't last, since the fan slows back down as soon as it cool enough.

I don't own a DCC, but I've read a few posts about them and plan to get one if I get an electric fan. Anyway, I think Yount said one time that his only draws 10 amps at when it kicks on and then it slowly "ramps it up" as he puts it, as needed. I think he said some fans draw like 30 amps or something. Either way, the DCC prevents a voltage spike, which is good. I don't know for sure if it would prevent your problem, but I'd guess it would.

bryan: I know what you mean. I was planning on doing an electric fan and DCC, but I can't afford to drop the $150-200 it would cost me by the time I'm done especially since my car is running cool now and I'm not as crazy as some people about getting every single hp possible.

yeah, the time the fan upgrades makes wonderful sense is when the stock fan is cracked, the stock clutch is bad and the stock alternator went south.

it does seem that people spend a lot of money on switches and relays and controllers (not variable controllers but on/off controllers), so the extra cost might not be that much. the old school way just nickels and dimes you to death.

I dont have one of the variable controllers either, but am thinking about it for the 94GT.

and all the info is right - it does 'ramp up' so there is not a shock on the system. if all fans are relatively the same efficiency, even if one has a larger initial draw than another, it likely also flows more air so the controller can ramp down quicker.

on the temp questions, as i recall, there are jumper wires that one plays with to have the fan initiate at the desired temp.

i would really email Mr Baskin and ask him - that way you get info from the source and he can fill you in much better than we can (even in reading his posts, he blows me away with some of the things he says [very very knowledgable]).

Anyone have a email addy to reach the Delta Control guy directly? I went to the site and clicked on "Contact Us" and it told me there was an error loading the page and it wont work no matter how many times I click it. So, does anyone have the email addy to reach him saved or memorized or something? Thanks
