His camera is a DSLR but is only interchangeable with Olympis, or other aftermarket lenses. Sigma may have some nice lenses out now for it check out there web site.
I myself shoot Canon DSLR and will never own anything else.
Sony's new 10.2 MP DSLR is very tempting espically with the Carl Zeiss lens and the ability to use and Konica/Minolta lens with it.
I say sell the E-Volt and grab an Entry level (Rebel XT/XTi, D50,) from one of the big names in the game.

If I was to sell it I would aim for the $600-$650 CND mark. So what ever that turns out to be in US currency. I would think you could get $500 out of it easy.
But before you do sell, check out what lenses are available for it you may be more then happy with a new lens or two. www.popphoto.com has a great forum, and reader gallery, tons of tips, articles, camera comparisons etc. They may be able to give you some good guidance and check out the classifieds on there and see what an E-Volt is going for.
If you do decide to buy new, I recomend the Rebel XTi getting awesome reviews, 10 MP, Canon quality, hundreds of lenses and accessories for it.
Or perhaps a 20d or if you have lots of extra cash sitting around a 5d

Now if you up to a 20d with full metal body you get the rugged feel but double the weight.
Nikon are very nice, I tried out the D50 and D70 when I was looking into my new DSLR, but after reading reviews and stuff on the XT and the Nikons the XT won out in justa bout every category from all the major reviewers, and has a higher MP.
making money is the fun part I pulled in about $4000 this summer from Weddings alone. Got some family portraits I am doing this weekend. Nothing like one day of picture taking 3 days of post processing and $1000 cash in ur hand.

i prefer to take pics of cars. but i would look other places to make the money. i thought about the weddings and have been asked about it but i dont want to be responsible for screwing up someones wedding pictures by accident. i am pretty sure i can do it but its a risk i would think.
