Don't know if I came across the wrong way, and there are a lot of stereotypes in this thread, but FWIW, I actually love the Germans I live by. They've accepted me into this community more so than I've ever been included in a community before. They are also genuinely upset that I'm going to leave to another place in Germany soon.

Here's the thing about apostrophes - "When in doubt leave it out." Green = goooood. Red = baaaaaad. I mean absolutely NO disrespect by this, but my mom is/was and English teacher and it was beaten into me to the point where now, misplaced apostrophes have the same effect as nails on a chalk board.

Are you sure that's the correct use of the hyphen?

Nope. Probably should have been a colon.

verdammt Deutschen

English Translation:

My father was a second-generation American from Germany. I think I can say damn Germans without being racist. Also, this is an inside joke. My father fought against the Germans in World War II. He is the one who always said, "Damn Germans".

Let's not read anything into any of this...

Me too.

I've never even seen the Fatherland. Doesn't mean I don't have pride in my heritage, though..

haha, it was actually a quote from a movie. I just found it fitting in this situation.

Awesome, I was actually able to follow all of that without a translator except the words "Nutzungsbedingungen," "herauszugreifen," "Rasse," and "witz."
